DAN HEALY’S FANTASY TIPS
THURSDAYS ON COACH & COMPANY – 4:30-5:00pm Quarterbacks l Runningbacks l Receivers l Place Kickers l Defenses
Josh McCown vs. Indinapolis The Arizona Cardinals travel to Indianapolis for the season-finale. QB Josh McCown will continue to audition for his upcoming free agency contract. He meets an Indy team which is reeling from the suicide death of its head coachs 18-year old son. In addition, the Colts plan on resting many of its starters. This provides an inviting (in dome) environment for McCown to showcase his skills.
Jake Delhomme vs. Atlanta The Carolina Panthers must win this game to have any hope of getting into the playoffs. Last week, WR Steve Smith was ejected; the Panthers lost the game. He owes his teammates a game-changing performance. RB DeShaun Foster has a turf toe injury, so the running game may be suspect.
Trent Green vs. Cincinnati The Chiefs are on the outside of the playoff hunt looking in. The Bengals are not accomplished against the run, so RB Larry Johnson will have his number called frequently. WR Eddie Kennison is hurt (knee questionable.) Green wont have an outstanding day, but hell contribute to the Chiefs having a balanced attack on this final regular season game of the 2005 season.
David Carr vs. San Francisco The 49ers began the 2005 with the worst pass-defense number after Week 1 play. They havent surrendered this bottom of the heap rating during the ensuing 16 weeks. QB David Carr will face an S.F. secondary that has recently used LB Julian Peterson as a cornerback due to mounting injuries. The 49ers are limping to the finish line. Houston RB Domanick Davis has had season-ending surgery, so the Texans running game is second-string in nature. Its time to pass the football.
Kerry Collins vs. N.Y. Giants Raiders RB LaMont Jordan is likely to miss this contest. Journeyman Zack Crockett will get the call, but he may not be capable of handling the load. Look for Raiders QB Kerry Collins to attack the Giants back 7. The Giants LBs were mostly street free-agents a week or two ago. WRs Randy Moss, Jerry Porter and Doug Gabriel should be able to get free in the secondary. Collins should be able to find them, if his offensive line can keep DEs Osi Umenyiora and Michael Strahan from collapsing the pocket.
