Even though the guys do not support a college
football playoff, they agree it would be a ton of fun and create alot of excitement.
So Coach came up with a format that allows every team that plays division one
football to have a chance to win a national championship.

We know there are some factors that need to be
taken into consideration and some things are unrealistic. Yes, we had to do away
with the bowl system but remember this is a fantasy. So get set to have some fun
in the next few weeks. You can check on game previews and reviews. Check back
often to see what’s the latest and good luck to all teams.

System:

–20 team playoff
–We took ten conference champions. ACC, BIG EAST, BIG 10, BIG 12, PAC 10, SEC,
CONF. USA, MAC, MT. WEST and WAC.
–Ten at-large spots
–The follow conferences get a first round bye- ACC, BIG EAST, BIG 10, BIG 12,
PAC 10, SEC. This is based on the fact that they are the power leagues. It also
rewards the teams that win a conference title.
–The other four remaining conference champs could get a first round bye if they
are ranked high enough.
–At-large spots and seedings are based on a team’s won-lost record, strength of
schedule and quality wins and losses. It’s basically the same criteria used for
the college basketball tournament seeding.

How to set the tournament up:

–12 teams receive first round byes
–8 teams play in the first round.
–The 20 teams are ranked by our selection committee. Remember, the select six
conference winners are guaranteed a spot in the top 12.
–The opening round matchups feature seeds 13 vs. 20, 14 vs. 19, 15 vs. 18, 16
vs. 17. These games are all played on campus.
–After first round games are played, the remaining 16 teams are re-seeded. This
means if the 20th seed wins their first round game, they will play the
top-seeded team and so forth.
–Second round games are also played on campus and are played over a four day
period.
